Curated Gatherings was full of firsts. It was our first mid-season release and also our first time hosting a full photo shoot in Portland, Oregon where our product design office is located (not to mention our first time eating Blue Star Donuts… SWOON!). We wanted Curated Gatherings to show new and favorite products together in a light. Unlike our previous releases, the majority of the Curated Gatherings catalog is dedicated to beautiful inspiring images of the collection, rather than strictly product photography. We wanted to show our vision of how these items could be used in the home, and for hosting unique gatherings. In the process, we had a great time styling scenes and photographing in a warehouse space in the inner southeast industrial district of Portland. The space and the light were wonderful and these ladies put in a lot of hours and heavy lifting to make Curated Gatherings (arguably) our most beautiful catalog yet. See the full catalog here!

After a short stop in our Portland design studio, we headed to beautiful Frankfurt, Germany for a quick buying trip filled with lots of inspiring city scenes. Frankfurt is one of the oldest cities in Germany, and because of its central location, a major hub for business and travel. The city is a mix of very old traditional architecture and modern high rise buildings. We enjoyed all of the street side markets, the convenient(albeit crowded) subway system, and the stylish and charming people that we met there.
A beautiful old building we noticed while walking to dinner and the Frankfurt subway.

After Turkey we flew back to Germany and did some business there too.
In summary, we were in 6 different countries in 10 days – it felt a bit like the movie “Around the World in 80 Days!” We’ve ended our journey back in familiar China – traveling on the new railway system here that has finally connected the most northern parts of China with the southernmost city where our offices are located.
Our next release is going to be full of new surprises for everyone! Thank you all for allowing us to do what we love to do – you inspire us to keep creating!”
We’re looking forward to seeing you at the summer markets!
